Distribution Information Management for Energy Suppliers Print

SOPTIM VIM supports energy distribution with all modules needed from registering potential clients to billing. Management of contracts or changes, calculation and product cost analysis, forecast or auditing - for all these tasks the distribution management system VIM provides technically mature tolls and workflows.

Successful control of distribution requires the consistent aggregation of operative business data in current and robust indexes.

SOPTIM VIM meets this requirement based on a highly efficient, variable and high perfomance time series management with mature EDM functionalities. Business data from operative processes are aggregated to strategic indexes without discontinuity of media. At the same time, the system automatically links all supply points, customers, and contracts to the market structures relevant for the process. Modules are availalble for the operative processing of GPKE, Geli, WiM and MaBiS processes.

SOPTIM VIM supports:

  • in regard to strategy: Transparency of quantities and margins makes active control of distribution possible and ensures the operative company result.
  • in regard to tactics: Target-oriented functions for planning, monitoring and review support you in keeping returning customers, finding new customers and managing complex customers.
  • in regard to operation: Forecasts close to the market and calculations make the creation of attractive and competitive offers possible.
  • as a robust and reliable IT tool: Acknowledged performance, perfect integration and a high degree of automation ensure a consistent and efficient distribution process.

From Forecast to Offer

The offer is the key to an order. The increasingly intensive competition puts a limit on the time horizons for actual usage analysis, forecast, pricing and sending offers. Precision and velocity are most important when creating an offer. SOPTIM VIM is a tool that makes distribution departments most competitive. They can act quickly, reliably and strictly geared towards success.

Forecasts: SOPTIM VIM is equipped with high performance procedures that create reliable usage forecasts. Standard load profiles or measured output values - for most precise tariffing, base/peak analysis or HPFC pricing the program aims to derive the offer usage in a grid of hours or quarters of an hour.

Calculation: The procedures for calculation and product cost analysis implemented in SOPTIM VIM are highly flexible and comprise a broad range of functions. Based on measured and forecast actual usage the value of contracts and offers can be determined both in retrospect and anticipatorily.

Creation of Offers: Using SOPTIM VIM, offers can be created in just a few steps. The process from the creation of a prospective customer and metering point to the allocation of segment and system operator, if required, import of actual usage, forecast and calculation of offer to printing in most cases takes only a few minutes.

Conversion of Offers: When a customer accepts an offer it is converted into a contract. Offer forecast and offer are blocked for future changes and frozen for future target/actual comparisons.

Monitoring of Procurement and Product Cost Analysis: One unique feature of SOPTIM VIM is the procedure for product cost analysis and monitoring procurement. It enables the distribution department to monitor and show contracts and expected margins - separately for each customer. Thus causes and originators of balancing energy supply can be identified. On this basis the distribution department can specifically adjust prices or its strategy. In product cost analysis a cyclic re-evaluation of contracts is possible should the actual usage differ from the forecast or the market price change.

MaBis-Processes: The tasks of balancing group management within the scope of MaBiS processes lie with both the person in charge of a balancing group and the supplier and are of utmost importance because of their possible financial consequences.
SOPTIM VIM is proficient in dealing with large amounts of data and the highly complex processes. The evaluation of sum time series and communication processes in particular run totally automatedly for the person in charge of balancing group and the supplier; the current state of processing is presented clearly in the corresponding MaBis cockpit.

At approximately 70 energy distributors SOPTIM VIM is being used successfully, often in combination
with an accounting system, sometimes also with a CRM solution to control campaigns. Various procedures to setup interfaces provide for the integration of any billing, CRM, market communication, procurement and trading systems. Of course, we support implementation projects providing comprehensive consulting.
